Creating Picture Books for Children

Assignment

The goal of the assignment is to research and write your own children's book. The first three assignments will take approximately three days. In those three days you will will examine web sites and perform writing tasks. If you finish the daily task, you should spend the time creating your story line and book.
  • The first thing to do is choose an age group.
  • Begin by choosing a theme or determining a concept that you want to convey.
  • Outline the story and determine what types of pictures you would like to have.
  • If you are not able to draw the pictures, find clipart that will work. Check your clipart for copyright permissions.
  • Create your book in one of two ways:
    • Write, design, and make a print book
    • Write, design, and make a eBook (PowerPoint or other slide show software, VoiceThread, etc.) If you will be using software other than PowerPoint. MovieMaker, or VoiceThread, please let Mrs. Kneifel or Hooper know ASAP.

Objective

To develop a greater understanding of childhood literacy and their literature through the careful examination of children's literature and the planning and execution of a children's picture book.

Daily Procedure

  2. Unless prompted to do otherwise, log in to a computer and work on the task for the day.
